My Very First Wash and Go!

All finished!

Hello everyone! I always said that the first thing I was going to do once I got rid of my heat damage was to try a Wash and Go, since it was really the only style I couldn’t achieve while growing out my damaged ends. While I was transitioning, I watched countless YouTube videos about doing Wash and Gos to try to understand how to pull off the style. This past week, it was finally my time to try it! (I actually planned on just doing a twist-out, but my hair was washed, and the conditioner was there, so I figured there was no time like the present!). For my first time, it came out great, and will definitely be a staple once the weather gets warmer! Here is what I did to achieve the style:

Weekend Hair!

Hey everyone! So I went to a wedding this weekend, and I wanted to do something cute with my hair, but I didn’t want to wear it out in this heat! I saw this style while cruising through the Black Girl with Long Hair forums, and thought I’d try! It was actually very easy to do, and lasted for a couple days.

The NYE Style Experiment!

WP_001142

Hello Everyone! Happy new year! This NYE was absolutely wonderful! The weather in Houston was great, I had a great time with friends on NYE complete with fireworks, and on New Years day, I was able to watch two friends get married! The wedding was beautiful, and the reception was super fun! (and I didn’t even sweat my hair out. :) ). My style experiment for NYE was a huge success! I got plenty of compliments on it, from TSA agents to friends and family, so I guess it was worth the hours that went into it. Lol! I was apprehensive about the style at first, but as time went on, it grew on me more and more! Check out the video to see the process (complete with trials and tribulations). I hope you all will enjoy it! As always, I appreciate your comments and feedback!

Plotting My NYE Style!!

Hello everyone!! Soooo, New Year’s eve is around the corner! I usually don’t do much by way of style. I’m quite satisfied with my twist-out/puff/bun/repeat routine. Until I saw this…

*faints* YAAAASSS!! BGLHonline did a feature on Laila (pictured), and she showed this gorgeous twisted updo she wore! I knew when I saw it, that I NEEDED to try it. You know what they say, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”, so I started lurking… I mean, planning. Laila has a YouTube page, so I lurked there to see if she made a tutorial. She didn’t, but I found this video with more pictures of the style. Since there’s no tutorial, I just studied the pictures as much as I could. This will essentially be a ‘style experiment’ (I’ve never done an updo on my hair before), so I need to do my research. I’ll keep plotting on the logistics; parting, products to use, etc. and I’ll let you all know how it turns out! If things go well, I may even record it! Hopefully, I’ll be able to recreate this style, how amazing would that be? Stay tuned, D-day is Thursday!

I’ll definitely twitpic the finished product, so if you’re on Twitter, follow me @CurlRehab. To see the video of the process when I upload it, subscribe to TheCurlyChemist on YouTube!!
