Kenda- My hair is very thick with medium-tight coils. To use a scale I am 4a/4b. I am transitioning out of the TWA stage so I feel it is at an awkward length! I have had severe dry scalp/psoriasis and have yet to find a product that helps the dryness for an adequate amount of time.

Judith- My hair is extremely thick! I have really tight curls (4b/4c) and it’s to about 3 inches of length now.

Nicole- I have short curly hair. About an inch long in the back and slightly longer in the front.  It is fine and very thin throughout. But because it is curly it is hard to tell sometimes.

The Review Crew: Nicole Reviews Hair Love

Nicole

1.) Introduce yourself! (name, what do you do, how long and why did you go natural)

Hi, my name is Nicole.  I stopped over processing my hair a few years back. I cut off all my hair and grew it back to regain my natural hair pattern.

2.) Please describe your hair for us! (texture, length, thick/thin, any problems with dryness, dandruff, etc)

I have short curly hair. About an inch long in the back and slightly longer in the front.  It is fine and very thin throughout. But because it is curly it is hard to tell sometimes.

3.) First off, what is the product’s smell/consistency?

The product is very firm with a shea butter smell. It is thicker than shea butter.

4.) How did you use this product?

I decided to use the product as a deep conditioner. I first washed my hair. Then I rubbed the product into my hands until it melted. I then applied it to my damp hair. I combed it through and let it stay in my hair for about 20 minutes. I then rinsed it out of my hair as much as I was able. The product is thick and did not rinse out completely. So I had to use some shampoo to get it all out. Then I styled my hair as usual.

5.) Did the product meet its claims? How did your hair/scalp feel afterward? Describe any positive/negative effects.

The Hair Love moisturized my hair well without being too oily. As a deep conditioner it worked great.

6.) Would you buy this product, and use it again?

Yes, I would buy this product and use it again as a deep conditioner, maybe once every couple weeks.

The Review Crew: Judith Reviews Hair Love!

1.)    Introduce yourself! (name, what do you do, how long and why did you go natural)

My name is Judith. I am a doctoral student in a biomedical science program. I’ve been natural since May 1st, 20011. I went natural because I found strength and empowerment in embracing natural BLACK beauty as it is.

2.)    Please describe your hair for us! (texture, length, thick/thin, any problems with dryness, dandruff, etc)

I have 4b/4c textured curls that are about 4 inches long, and very thick. I do have dry hair but deep conditioning on a regular basis keeps it moisturized.

3.)    First off, what is the product’s smell/consistency?

This product is called: Hair Love by CurlyCanadians. It smells like a mild shea butter (not as potent as the raw butter) and a little sweet almost like honey and almonds.

4.)    How did you use this product?

As a leave-in conditioner as well as a styling pomade.

5.)    Did the product meet its claims? How did your hair/scalp feel afterward? Describe any positive/negative effects.

This product claims that you can use it as a deep conditioner or styling pomade. I used it as a leave in conditioner on my hair while it was wet as well as styling pomade. I really liked the feel of the product on my hair. It was silky and had a nice slip to it. My hair felt moisturized instantly. I braided my hair with Hair love while it was wet then did a braid out the following day and it felt smooth to the touch while keeping my hair intact. There is no need for an oil sealant when using this product it’s an all in one conditioner.

Positive: I think it smells much better than raw Shea butter. It was also easier to work with and lather throughout my hair because it was whipped and mixed with oils from coconut, beeswax, and almond. I love that it wasn’t too greasy and didn’t leave a residue in my hair while it was wet or cake up while it was dry.

Negative: I have nothing bad to say about this product.

6.)    Would you buy this product, and use it again?

I would use this product again.

7.)    Any final info you’d like to add?

I appreciate that the ingredients are all natural. I can read everything on the back of the label and know exactly what I’m putting on my hair.

The Review Crew: Kenda Reviews Hair Love!

1.)    Introduce yourself! (name, what do you do, how long and why did you go natural)

Hi! I’m Kenda! I am a [now] self-employed freelance writer and fitness blogger at www.lgifit.com *PLUG*

I have  been natural for seven months , I transitioned for three years and big chopped last July because of my daughter Mia.

2.)    Please describe your hair for us! (texture, length, thick/thin, any problems with dryness, dandruff, etc)

My hair is very thick with medium-tight coils. To use a scale I am 4b/4c. I am transitioning out of the TWA stage so I feel it is at an awkward length! I have had severe dry scalp/psoriasis and have yet to find a product that helps the dryness for an adequate amount of time

3.)    First off, what is the product’s smell/consistency?

It has the consistency of shea butter, maybe a little less thick . It has a very light floral scent, you almost can’t smell anything at all!

4.)    How did you use this product?

I used it two times, one for twists, and the next for a twist and curl.

I also used it on my daughter’s weekly twists.

5.)    Did the product meet its claims? How did your hair/scalp feel afterward? Describe any positive/negative effects.

I got a lot of comments on how shiny and healthy my hair looked both times I used it! My hair felt very moisturized w/o any residue on my hands afterwards. I got a very defined twist out and my twists looked so good and were held so well, I almost wore them out the house (I’m not ready yet! LOL)

6.)  Would you buy this product, and use it again?

I feel like I get the same effect, just a lighter hold, with shea butter and a mixture of essential oils. I will use the product I have left but I wouldn’t rush out to buy it for myself.

7.) Anything else you would like to add?

If you like a heavy hold for twists/braids this is the stuff for you!
