Hello everyone! I’ve been slacking on my new posts, I know. I’ve been super busy, but I haven’t forgotten you! I’ve also been making a serious commitment to living a healthy lifestyle recently. Workouts and healthy eating (most of the time ) on deck! I’m always trying to find something new to do to keep workouts interesting. My newest fitness challenge is the Brazil Butt Lift system! I lucked out and received the set from a friend of mine to try.
Hello everyone!! Well, the storm is over!! The Mayor’s Challenge 5K was no joke!! Don’t run a race without training y’all, it makes it so much harder! Thanks to Kenda from LGI Fitness, I made it! We met our goal of finishing in under 40 minutes! (39:54!!)
About 5000 people came out, and I was so happy to see people of all races, and ages there! Tennessee is the 2nd fattest state in the South (probably in the country too), so the Mayor is really trying to encourage residents to get active! For at least 5000 of us, it really worked! I’ve attached a few pictures of the race below, but for a complete recap, check out Kenda’s post here!
Hello Everyone! I can’t believe it’s over!! I did my last workout this morning, and I have officially completed the Jillian Michaels Ripped In 30 DVD! This is actually the longest I’ve ever kept up any exercise program. I usually slip up around the third week, and while it was a SERIOUS struggle when I started week 3, I kept it up because I knew other people in the challenge were pushing through it right with me!!
I learned a few things this week through this experience! I’m going to share some of them:
1.) You aren’t a failure if you keep trying.
On the first week, I took SO many breaks. It took me about 35 minutes to finish a 20 minute workout! But every day I did it, I got stronger, and the breaks became less frequent!
2.) Pain is necessary for growth.
I’ve never been the type to want to ‘feel the burn’. I don’t like to hurt during a workout. once I started to feel the first tingle of pain, I would take a break. I found that if I just pushed through it, I gained more strength for the next time, and I felt better about my workout! The only way we can improve is if we get out of our comfort zone!
3.) If you don’t want to, MAKE yourself do it!
SO many days I wanted to skip the workout! But I knew one day would turn into two, and two into a week! So I forced myself to work out! 30 minutes actually go by pretty fast when you just take the first step and begin!! I’m so happy I did. Now the month is over! *fist pump*
I’ve been keeping track of my measurements, I’m not sure if I’ve lost many inches, but I do feel and look more toned!
To keep myself on the straight and narrow, I’m going to begin Jillian Michaels’ 30-day Shred! Yes, I’m a Jillian fan now. She makes it hurt, but she gets results!
Hello Everyone! Well week 3 of Jillian Michaels’: Ripped In 30 is complete!! Let’s be honest, it doesn’t get ANY easier! This week had my thighs and arms SCREAMING! Strangely, I am coming to love Jillian more than I hate her for making my body hurt. Only one more week left! I won’t even wish for an easier week, I already know it won’t happen.
The 30-day program is really beneficial for me since I tend to get bored and inconsistent with my workouts after a couple of weeks. Changing the workout every week keeps things fresh. In fact, I can’t believe I’ve kept it up this long! I think once I finish week 4, I’ll start Jillian Michaels’: 30-day Shred! I’m inspired! One more week, time to get serious!! If you want to get more information about the challenge, check out my friend Kenda at Let’s Get It! fitness blog!
Incidentally, I will be running (more like walking/jogging) my first 5K next Sunday! The mayor of Nashville is hosting a 5K walk/run for the public. It’s called the Mayors Challenge. There were free training groups in different areas of the city for the past nine weeks. Since I just recently found out about it, I haven’t been training, but I’m gonna show up anyway! I’ll post pictures of the 5K and post my thoughts of my final week of the 30-day workout challenge next week!
Hello Everyone! I mentioned before that I was starting the 30-day workout challenge hosted by Kenda of YOU can GET IT fitness blog! For the next 30 days, we’ll be doing the Jillian Michaels Ripped In 30 DVD.
Week one starts today!! I’ll be taking before and after measurements to record my progress. Every week, I’ll post how my workouts and meal plans have gone. I’m so excited! I did the first workout today, and MERCY!! Jillian works muscles that I didn’t even know existed! I won’t lie to you and tell you it was easy, Jillian kicks butt (understatement of the year). I took multiple breaks (SMH), but I’m sure that by the end of the week, my endurance and strength will have improved, and I’ll be ready for week two! It’s not too late to join the challenge! In fact, Kenda has a DVD she’s giving away free! The group of people who have joined the challenge are encouraged to check in by commenting on Kendas blog, or on FB. If you’ve been meaning to start a workout, but haven’t gotten around to it, join the challenge! It’s easier to be consistent when others are in the struggle with you! Start with us today!!
